Outreach and Citizen Education
What is it?
The League reaches out to area residents to provide education, voter registration and awareness of the League’s role. Our primary method for doing this is at booths or tables at local events. This activity is also a great time to recruit new members to the League!
As you might expect if you read the page on this website about Voter Services (under the Activities tab), outreach and citizen education and voter services coordinate their activities during election seasons. Both emphasize voter education and registration during election seasons.
The League of Women Voters never supports or opposes any candidate or political party. Our mission is to promote active participation in our government by an informed citizenry.
At what events does the League have a booth or table?
Currently, LWV Tallahassee sets up a booth at the Tallahassee Downtown Market held March through November in Ponce de Leon Park on Park Avenue on Saturday mornings. The League booth is usually open from 9:00 a.m. to about noon or 1:00 p.m. Two members are needed each Saturday.
Additional volunteer opportunities will be announced on the news page of this website, in the League newsletter The Voter and our Facebook page
